Feature Wall

This was how my feature wall looked like before the 'transformation'. Thanks to my ID who made the mistake of placing the feature wall in a position where the 'fish scales' design of the divider wall is partially blocked by the shelves behind.

Figured out a way to beautify the wall by adding GlassKote. Called up the sales rep : Kenneth Tang and he came over to look. No prob. Can be done. A few days later I received some color samples by courier.  Decided on Metallic Bright Silver. Then I received an email with the invoice attached. The site measurement was done a few days later and deposit paid. In about one week's time, the tempered glass was ready for installation.

Installation time took less than an hour. The glue takes about 24 hours to completely dry. I feel that the feature wall looks much better and more classy now!

Rectification Work

After waiting patiently for about 3 months for the rectification work, I've finally decided that enough is enough. I told my ID from Desigva Design that I will not pay the balance sum (which is approximately 10% of the total) as she is not making very much effort to complete the rectification work. Her excuses each time I call "my boss is arranging the schedule, my boss says next week (but doesn't call me to tell me when)..... then when I can't get her, she will sms and say she will return my call but she doesn't at all.

The only thing which my ID managed to get rectified was the wiring. Their company has a new electrician which is very good and reliable. He managed to rectify all the mistakes that were done by the previous electrician. He also added the 6mm wire that I need for the Stiebel Eltron water heater.

Since I am now in charge, I got the technicians from Stiebel Eltron water heaters to check my remaining unit the 60EC. I've decided to use it after all as it provides INSTANT hot water unlike the DC-heater which I sometimes forget to switch on and it takes some time to heat up. Another downside is that the once the hot water is used up then it will be cold especially when 2 people want to take baths at the same time (one in the tub and the other using the shower) or one after the other. Anyway, the technicians discovered a blockage in the hot water piping which they promptly removed, thus enabling water to enter the water heater and thus enabling it to function! The Stiebel Eltron water heater does not need switch controls which was great cos no hacking necessary - just a direct connection will do. It has a built-in ELCB so no worries.

As for other rectification work, I manage to get Hello Handyman to come and remove 2 unwanted cabinet doors, and patch up some wrongly drilled holes in the flooring. I also managed to get an Indon guy who is one of the workers at my neighbour's unit to come and do some painting for me. Just some touch-ups here and there. I also called up GlassKote to give me a quote to make my feature wall look like a feature wall! *Sigh* the mistakes my ID had done...... will accept the wrongly done wardrobe for now. Will redo in the future when the kids are older.

3D Drawings - second draft

We decided to change the position of the bed to the wall beside the wardrobe. Looks good in a way but not sure about the cost of the plaster wall instead of the sliding doors wall.

Living room is perfectly done according to our storage needs.

Shoe cabinet at the entrance foyer

Kids bedroom - still need to make some changes

Choosing an Interior Designer

A well designed home is a good investment if there are plans to let out the unit plus it can fetch a higher price when sold. With this in mind, I decided to engage an interior designer to handle the renovation works on my condo unit.

I went to Beverly Home at Mid Valley Megamall for a quote. The junior designer there prepared the quote for me within 3 days - impressive but there was no explanation on what was quoted and the pricing. I also met up with 2 other designers - one from Eleveneighteen and the other Desigva. Both came up with very good proposals and quotes that hubby and I had a long and tiring time deciding on whom to appoint.

The many factors that we took into consideration
1) Price
2) Qualification
3) Design
4) Professionalism
5) Interest & Enthusiasm
6) Company profile
7) Easy to communicate
8) Pleasant personality

Appointed senior designer from Desigva Design.
Upon appointment, RM12K is paid as designer professional fee. This fee will be waived once the contract is confirmed.
